Upcoming Activities

Playgroup/Exercise Group
Since this Friday is the Fourth of July, we will be having playgroup on Friday, July 11th at the Clement Park Playground next to the lake. 9a (this time is different than usual-just better for heat). Plan on bringing your strollers/bikes/trikes and walk around the lake for some exercise & for getting to know the other sisters better. The lake is 1.25 (?) miles around the perimeter, so it can be a good workout :) We'll then let the kids play at the park afterwards.

Exercise group
This may not be popular this month just because the 5K we planned on conflicts with the ward breakfast on 7/4/08. It begins at 8:30a at the HR Town Center. A few of us ARE planning on running/walking it, so feel free to join us. Follow the link below to register...

June Service Activity

Thanks to everyone who signed up to participate in the monthly service activity. Our first meeting will be on:
Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m.
at the Coal Mine building
We will be making twin size tied quilts, as this is a need listed on the church's humanitarian website. We will need to decide whether to send them directly to a community that has been hit by storms, or to our church humanitarian department. We will also be talking about the kind of service we would like to do in the future. We will need donations of fabric, batting, and yarn. We also need to borrow some quilting frames. You could also bring 9-inch square fabric scraps for rag quilts that we are planning to make for our September 13 service project for the Kpong branch in Ghana. Please write a little something about the fabric such as what it was used for and why it is special to you. If you have questions about this, contact Virginia Brison. Please reply as to whether you can donate materials and if you can be there on June 26.

***Quilt guidelines from the church humanitarian website: Quilts Sizes: All sizes are approximate; crib: 45" x 60", single: 72" x 90", double 90" x 96"
Use preshrunk, durable fabrics. To tie the quilts, use acrylic yarn, number 10 knit Cro-sheen™, or similar strong thread. Tie with a square knot or international stitch; make ties 3 to 4 inches apart.
